Help the compiler a bit with auto-vectorization
...
For query
SELECT sum(dp) FROM (SELECT dotProduct(v, v) AS dp FROM vectors)
with vectors of type
Array(Float32) and
Array(Float64)
and dimension = 150, runtimes go down from
0.46 sec to 0.34 sec (Float32) and
0.74 sec to 0.68 sec (Float64))
The latter (only a minor improvement) is independent of the number of
lanes (VEC_SIZE = 4 vs. 2 which is the theoretical optimal for Float64).
